Flour Sack Supers

January 28, 2009

In my 2D Computer Animation class, our assignment was to do some general expression sheets for flour sack characters, and whilst exploring around with my flour sack Mr. Tim, I got a little bit bored and needed a boost.  These are the result of that boost.

I sketched this during class a few days ago.  Hoping to get a colored version of her up here before too long.

Matthew 8:2-3

January 19, 2009

I’ve been reading through the Gospel of Matthew lately, since Josh started a sermon series on the life of Christ a few weeks ago.  I came across this story several days ago, and for some reason was reminded of it today during church, so I just made a really quick sketch of it in my notebook.

This particular story is one of my favorites I guess because it not only contains the story of the entire gospel in a few verses, but the story of my life.  A broken, nasty, dirty, messed up guy goes humbly to the holy, pure God of the universe, and, acknowledging Jesus’ power to bring change, submits himself to Jesus as to whether or not he actually will bring that change.  I notice that the leper does not ask or demand to be healed; he makes no claim that he deserves to be clean; he does not offer anything in return.  In approaching Jesus, he knows his present state of sickliness and he knows Jesus power to heal him, and he knows that Jesus can just as well say No as say Yes; nevertheless, he is hopeful, and he is rewarded for his faith in the end.

“A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said,

‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean!’

Jesus reached out his hand touched the man.

‘I am willing,’ he said.  ‘Be clean!’ “

It’s been a loooooong time.  Here’s a couple things I had sitting around my desktop, and just now got to uploading.  The first is a sketch I did during church I think one time a while back; I photoshopped the color in.  The second is a digital texture creation I made for my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas.  I don’t really have a name for it; it was just a lot of fun to do.  Enjoy.
